Mobile apps and which one to develop for

by admin on Jan.13, 2010, under Uncategorized

I’m a little stuck on which path to follow on the mobile app development site. iPhone is a bit of a distance from my radar as I turned my back on Mac OS X some years ago and don’t use the platform anymore. I still support it but all my work has moved over to the Windows and Linux based platforms.

Now as Google has just release the Nexus One the Google phone with the Android OS which is basically Linux with a GUI of android like KDE and it’s basic apps are built using Java, even though you can build native apps in C++ it is not difficult to start building apps for the android system. Also as they supply you with a good SDK that plugs into Eclipse and a good emulator with good updates and lots of samples of open source scripts it is very easy to get on board. Anyway I’ve started the book reading on the Android system. My problem is that the Window Mobile platform is just as powerful if not more powerful than both iPhone or Android as it is backed by the Windows platform, Microsoft, has mobile devices launched every week and I have developed many apps for the Windows using Microsofts tools. You also have the possibility that the Zune will become the Zune phone.

So to recap I don’t want to get started with the iPhone, the Android OS and app building is not a problem but a bit of a curve and WinMo I know as much as I can.

Which path should I follow??
