Building bluetooth marketing application in JAVA ME

May 26th, 2009 1 comment

After doing a stint in VB.NET and updating an application for the www.ad2hand.co.uk site, an app that runs on Windows XP, Vista, .NET 3.5 and automatically sends out messages (graphics, text, v-cards, etc) using bluetooth and OBEX. I have a nokia 6301 mobile phone and started to look into bulding a java app that can do the same thing on the phone. My understanding is that if you want to use the bluetooth technology to send out messages you don’t want something big like a laptop to carry around and you always carry your mobile phone / cell phone around with you. The laptop with the SENA UD100 industrial bluetooth dongle has it’s ability to reach further but with a mobile you can go anywhere without sticking out. So I’ve started to build it, I have the bones of the app done, it constantly searches for devices and then sends out the message, I’ve also added that it gets the message, whatever it may be from the internet. This allows the app to be very small for installation only 6k. I’m going to add the counter for success, failed and timedout. You will be able to press start from the app on lots of phones you give you a network of andvertising where ever you go and nobody will know it is you.
