The browser is now evolving so quickly
The browser is now evolving so quickly that I am finding more and more issues with old version of browsers.
When building for the Internet we focus on the most recent versions of the browser and we keep up to date with the browser.
We now have 4 major browsers (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome and Safari)
Active Internet explorer browser version (v6, v7, v8)
Active FireFox (v2, v3 and soon to be v4)
Active Chrome (beta, v1, v2 and soon v3)
Active Safari (v2, v3 and just released v4)
We also have operating systems at different version (Windows, Mac OS X and Linux)
All browsers have build versions between the versions i.e. Version 2 may have a build of 2.0134
As you know all websites in production and live have issues being backward or forwards compatible.
To debug a production website for all browsers is not a problem but it is time consuming. One fix for one browser can have an effect to other browsers and so on.
To template a website up e.g. from graphics to html with style-sheets would normally take 4 hours but if you add browser requirements into this you are probably adding half a hour for every browser debug.
For any browser you could take a 4 hour job up to 14 hours (10 hours debug)
Please when quoting for a job, take into consideration the debug requirement if required and specifiy these details.
